The Adventure Continues…

Another few weeks or so on and so much has happened! We got out to a little club called Koko in Camden one night and saw a couple of Aussie bands play, Philadelphia Grand Jury and Art vs. Science. The place was really cool, kind of like a mini Thebarton Theatre, but then with more levels. The bands were amazing! We got right up the front and also took our Aussie flags as well and waved them around and jumped and danced around. There was even a few other Aussies around us which was cool. We got home tired, sore and bruised, (well at least Dung was bruised), but was such a fun and great night!

Kate spent the next 5 days in Spain so Dung and I ventured off to do a few touristy things. We went into the city to find us some elephants, and found us quite a few of them! They were all over the place. Even in shopping centres. If you don’t understand this then check out the website here: http://www.elephantparadelondon.org/and don’t forget to check out my pictures on Facebook for a lot of elephant pictures.

On our travels we also came across some war memorials and found our way to Buckingham Palace as well. Yet to see the changing of the guards though because it had already happened once we got there, but plenty of time to see that yet. Just need to get there early enough to beat the crowds!

Kate got a job at Dung’s work. Then I got a job there too, so we’re all pulling pints together in a nice pub in Wimbledon. Great place and people and a lot of fun. Dung and I also pent some time walking around the neighbourhood seeing what we could find and found some great parks to hang out in, as well as finding Wimbledon stadium where they have the tennis. Busy, busy place at it is nearly that time of year, and should be a crazy time at the pub with that on, especially in the sports bar. And couple that with the world cup we are definitely in for some crazy but awesome times!

We also headed of for the weekend North out of London to Doncaster by train with a few friends to got the the Doncaster Dome to see Pendulum play. Before we went to see them though we went to a friends Dad’s house for our first London BBQ. I must say I was impressed. It was delicious. Although no where near as much food as my BBQ’s often have. Pendulum were another Aussie act who didn’t disappoint, although we came out of there like we had just jumped in a swimming pool! We went out on the town that night and although all the talks of Doncaster not having a night life unless you want to fight, we found no trouble and just had fun. We spent the night at a nice little hotel then went for a drive about half hour out of Doncaster the next day past Sherwood Forrest (Robin Hood was no where to be seen though… must have been off promoting a movie or something) to a massive park called Clumber Park. Here’s the googlemaps view:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=clumber+park&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Clumber+Park,+Worksop,+Nottinghamshire&gl=uk&ei=YwwITKDfEo_u0gSxjYRb&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CB0Q8gEwAA

Check it out on satellite and you can see how ridiculously big the park is. Who knows where abouts we were in there, but we weren’t too far from the lake. We took a picnic with us and sat around for the day enjoying the sunshine and even got a little bit burnt! It was a beautiful place and such an awesome day for it to just sit around and do nothing.

After working at the pub for a couple of weeks I went for an interview at a place called Charityshare, doing IT Support and have since started working there this week. A little boring so far but it will get better I’m sure. I’m still working at the pub as well, just one or 2 shifts here and there, which will also be good for when I am out of a contract doing my IT work.

Well I think that’s about it for now, keep me updated with what’s happening back home and maybe speak to some of you all soon!

The Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why would I wanna be anywhere else

It’s been a long time since I have wrote one of these but I thought that since I am now living in London that I should keep it up to date for all you back home and wherever in the world you may be!

So we made it to London on the 27th of April and since then we haven’t done too much yet apart from get accustomed to the ways of London and settle ourselves in to our new home. The house is really good and has most of the stuff we would need in here to keep us going. We have stocked our fridge and cupboard as well with a few trips to the Sainsbury’s and Tesco supermarkets, as well as picking up a few things for the house from a ridiculously cheap dept. store called Primark. It’s all actually quite cheap and between us all we are helping cook, clean and do the washing.

The area we are living in is Southfields, about a 20 minute tube ride out of Central London, and is right next to Wimbledon. There is a lot of parks around the area and only a few minutes walk to the local shops and tube station. There is also a lot of squirrels running around and birds that try to attack Dung, which is hysterical to watch!

Other than that we have just been looking for jobs. Kate has been doing some temp work and Dung has already landed herself a job in a bar not too far from home. I have applied for about 20 jobs the past week so hopefully something will come of that and I can start earning some money and get out and about traveling and seeing the sites.

We caught up with Terence and Aaron and their friends yesterday as they were in London for a couple of days before heading of on their Contiki tour. We went out to Camden where they have markets everywhere selling all kinds of things, and plenty of souvenir shops all up and down the streets. We stopped for lunch at a burger place which supposedly had the best burgers in London, 5 years in a row. While they were good, I don’t know if they were the best, but not having any other burgers from London to compare it to, I can’t be sure yet.

So that’s it so far, hope everyone else is well wherever you are! Keep me updated of what is happening in your parts of the world and hopefully speak to you soon or see you over here for a visit!

Melbourne Madness

After arriving back in Adelaide on Monday afternoon, I had more sleep that night than I did the entire weekend! It wasn’t some marathon sleep effort either, just a bit more than the standard 8 hours a night some people recommend. So as you can imagine, the weekend was pretty big and took a lot out of me, and now, even on Thursday, I still find myself short on sleep. Do I regret it though? No, not at all. I’m feeling the effects of it now, my body is tired both physically and mentally, I have a headache, and am starting to get a cold, but I know that it was all self inflicted and will power through it all and know that it was all worthwhile for the memories we have made.

Our weekend started on Friday, and as we headed to the airport we were all so excited and couldn’t wait to get on that plane. Once we were up in the air the flight was fairly short and we arrived in Melbourne and made our way to the hotel, and checked in. First stop after that was heading to the supermarket and bottle shop to get supplies for the weekend, which mainly consisted of Doritos (for making nachos), the salsa to go with it, some pita bread and dip, soft drinks, and alcohol. It all served us well.

Friday night we headed out to a club and partied our way to early hours of the morning before finally heading back to the hotel, having a couple of hours sleep, and waking up again to head out and explore the city for the day. Wandering the streets was a good idea as it got us out in the fresh air and we were able to walk our big night off so we could do it all again. We made our way around, checking out a lot of different places, and checking out all the different shops and factory outlets we found.

Later that night we ventured to our good friend Krissy’s new place in Melbourne to catch up with her and meet some of her friends, and of course, knock back a few drinks with her. After a couple of hours there we headed out to a pub/club for drinks, music, dancing, and friends. It was a good night, until we got lost walking home from the Crown Casino, but still, made for a good adventure and stories to go with it.

Sunday was a whole new day, and we woke slightly later than the previous just so our bodies didn’t hate us quite so much. We made it down to Chapel Street for a late breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausage, toast, tomato & mushrooms, and damn it was good. This put us in good stead for the rest of the day for more shopping and exploring the city. We ended up heading back to Smith Street to the Converse factory outlet so we could get some new kicks. (See picture of mine below).

Sunday night was our chance to get dressed up, and go out for a nice meal to treat ourselves while we party and visit another city. We went to a little place on Fitzroy Street in St. Kilda and most of us ordered steak, which we had been talking about for half of the weekend! It was good too, we were very impressed and made for a good night as we headed out to party away our last night in Melbourne.

Monday morning came and what shit weather it was, cold and raining, a big contrast to the rest of the weekend we had already had which was very nice indeed. We packed up all our gear, said our goodbyes to Kate, as she was staying the rest of the week, grabbed some breakfast before catching our bus to the airport. As we arrived at the airport early before check-in, out came the Uno cards, and so did our rowdy ways, making noise and having people stare and laugh as we acted like big kids in the middle of the airport. We eventually checked in, made our way through the gates and got our horde of Krispy Kreme doughnuts before playing some more Uno and then boarding the plane for our trip home. The weekend had come to an end, all of us a little worse for wear, but happy with the our adventures. Now, to plan the next trip…

Long, Long Weekend

As I sit here typing this I have less than 3 hours of work to go until my long, long weekend begins. Woo hoo, 4-day weekend. And what a weekend it is going to be, with The Party Posse flying over to Melbourne tomorrow afternoon for fun and games and just to get away from this God forsaken town we like to call Adelaide. Ok, so it’s not that bad, but no doubt it will be great to get away from all the usual Adelaide-ness.

With the crazy girls, Dung & Kate, plus myself and Chandy, we will show those Melbournians how to party Radelaide, Madelaide & Badelaide style! They won’t know what hit them as we party it up from the moment we land to the moment we leave.

With many adventures, shenanigans and shopping, with little sleep, it is going to be a weekend to remember, or possibly one we can’t remember… Either way, it doesn’t matter, because we will be away from home, with great friends, having great fun, without a care in the world.

PARTY TIME WITH ALL OF MY PEOPLE!!!

STEREOSONIC 08

Stereosonic is coming to Adelaide, and what a great lineup it is! This is one we have all been waiting for and November can’t come quick enough. By then the sun will be shining for a fun, but long day at Bonython Park with great music, and even greater friends.

It will be held on Saturday 29th November from 12 midday until 10pm, and the lineup includes names such as Sneaky Sound System, Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox with many more and others still to be announced.

Stereosonic Adelaide 2008

The top three are the big names, but no doubt the rest will not fail to disappoint either. It is going to be an awesome day, so if you’re going, let me know so we can organise breakfast/drinks/transportation. See y’all there! Peace out!
