Back to the Books
Lately I have been thinking about ways of optimising my time over here and have realised more so that to do everything I want to, I need more money. So then comes the point of how to get more money. Short of robbing the bank or having a 1 in a billion chance at winning lotto, instead I’ve decided to study. So far, this hasn’t been the best exercise at increasing my income. Partly because I am already in a job until the end of March, but mainly, put simply, studying costs money.
So far I have already spent over £60 on books, with at least another £100 to come on another 4 books, and then, on top of that will be more than £400 more to sit exams for each book. So as you can see, not the best moneymaking exercise by far. In addition to this I have also had to upgrade my laptop with more memory just so I can perform some of the exam practise tests (but let’s be honest, I’d wanted to do that anyway.
However, the end results of these 6 books and exams is a number of different qualifications, which then in turn is what will hopefully, in the form of higher paying IT roles, bring in the extra money that I need, which then allows me to save more money, to go on more holidays and see more of world.
So by the end of these exams I will have the following qualifications:
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Windows 7, Configuration
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuration
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuration
As well as this I will be qualified with two Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) qualifications, including Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7 and Enterprise Administrator. SO six qualifications in all! This should give me a great opportunity to maximise my income. Once I have completed them all I’ll look into studying even more as well to see what else I can will be beneficial to me, which I’m sure there is plenty. Let’s face it as well, this is never going to be a bad thing or something I can only use on my travels, so why not go for it and get it all done as soon as possible.
